Set time zone for CA Brightstore ARCserve Ingres database

This article applies to Linux systems running the CA Brightstore ARCserve backup software.

When backups are occurring one hour later each night it is likely because the time zone is not set correctly.

Brightstor ARCserver uses the Ingres Database which is set to Eastern Time by default. If the server is a time zone other than eastern you need to change it here.

  1. su l login as root if necessary
  2. cstop stop ARCserve and the Ingress DB.
  3. su ingres login as the ingres user
  4. export II_TIMEZONE_NAME="aTimeZone" set the time zone as one of the following, or from the longer list which can be found at http://support.ca.com document ID TEC268769

    NA-PACIFIC
    NA-MOUNTAIN
    NA-CENTRAL
    NA-EASTERN
    NA-ALASKA

  5. ingsetenv II_TIMEZONE_NAME $II_TIMEZONE_NAME set the environment variable
  6. exit exit from user ingres back to root
  7. cstart start ARCserve and the Ingress DB
