How to Resolve a File Dependency in Linux
Posted by Mont Rothstein on 18 October 2007 03:10 PM

To find and install a package that has a particular file:

On the command line as root, enter the following:

up2date --solvedeps="filename"

Ex: up2date --solvedeps="libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3"

To only see what package(s) has the file but not install it use:

up2date --whatprovides="filename"
