How to Change the Session Timeout

Adams Web

The default session timeout for AdamsWeb is 20 min. To change this a value has to be edited in several locations. The following instructions are for IIS 7 (2008 and Win 7). For IIS 5 or 6 see this link for assistance (http://forums.asp.net/t/1283350.aspx):

  • Pool Idle Time-out - Under Advanced Settings for AdamsWebPool change the Idle Time-out
  • ASP.NET Cookie Time-out - Under the Default Web Site->AdamsWeb->ASP.NET->Session State->Cookie Settings : change Time-out
  • Sessionstate timeout - In the web.config for AdamsWeb change the timeout property of the sessionstate element
  • Forms Authentication timeout - In the web.config for AdamsWeb change the timeout property of the authentication->forms element.
  • <asp> <session timeout="00:20:00" /> - In the web.config for AdamsWeb
  • Atalasoft Web Controls Cache Life Time - In the web.config for AdamsWeb change the value of the <add> element where key="AtalasoftWebControls_CacheLifeTime"
When all of these changes are done you will need to restart the pool.

When you upgrade to a new version of the Foray software you may need to adjust these settings again.

Adams Admin 5.6 and Later

Starting with Adams Admin 5.6, the default session timeout for Adams Admin is 20 minutes. To change this a value has to be edited in several locations. The following instructions are for IIS 7 (2008 and Win 7).

  • In the web.config for AdamsAdmin (`/inetpub/wwwroot/AdamsAdmin) change:
    • Sessionstate timeout property
    • SessionExpiration value property
When all of these changes are done you will need to restart the pool.

When you upgrade to a new version of the Foray software you may need to adjust these settings again.
